International Women's Day 2020 #EachForEqual
International Women's Day is recognised globally on the 8th of March. We've seen it evolve into a month of events and activities that celebrate women's achievement, raise awareness against bias, and drive action for equality. I've compiled a list of our favourite events happening this year.
The theme for this year's event is #EachForEqual, encouraging both men and women to think, act, talk about and ultimately create a gender equal world. An equal world is an enabled world. The day also helps us to recognise and celebrate women's achievements, whilst raising awareness against bias.
We've compiled a list of events you can attend this March to help celebrate IWD 2020.
Innovation Bay have chosen to mark #IWD2020 with their ‘Women in Startups’ dinner series; where they’re inviting women leaders from across the startup ecosystem to share their personal story, triumphs, and lessons learned over dinner with an intimate group of founders.
For Melbourne readers, they're holding a dinner on the 3rd of March to celebrate. Hosted by our own General Manager, Jodie Imam, the evening will see Rachael Neumann in conversation. Rachael plays across many parts of the startup ecosystem, chiefly as Head of Startups in Australia & New Zealand for Amazon Web Services - Amazon’s technology and services business serving millions of customers around the world. Things you can expect to discuss over dinner: The career journey of a change maker, The hallmarks of being a successful mentor and mentee, How we can encourage more women to become angel investors and What more needs to be done to increase diversity in the startup industry? You can find out more and buy tickets here.
For Sydney readers, the guest speaker at their Sydney dinner is Katherine McConnell, Founder of Brighte. Katherine and Brighte’s values align with the theme for International Women’s Day 2020 of #EachforEqual. They believe that every family deserves access to a sustainable and comfortable home. Brighte enables Australian families to feel comfortable and empowered in their decisions, and has created a platform that provides affordable on-the-spot finance for solar, batteries and home improvements.
